The video below is not for your run-of-the-mill downtown supporter. However, it is for those who are willing to dig a little bit deeper in understanding why downtown isn't just the emotional heart of the city, but also the key to its economic viability. It directly addresses issues we as a city face and will continue to face if we develop our town in the future using post-WW2 methods used across the country in the latter part of the 20th Century, in which communities were built mostly on the edges of town, at all cost.
Though this presentation isn't about Texarkana, it does a good job of addressing issues that are current to us. Enjoy and let us know what you think!
The courthouse square initiative, a joint project of Main Street Texarkana, the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, and both Texarkana Arkansas & Texarkana Texas, now has its own update page as part of the updated Main Street Texarkana website. To keep up with the project as it progresses, go to www.mainstreettexarkana.org/courthouse-square.html
There you can find multiple renderings of the proposed upgrades to the area and see where the project currently stands!

!Help us welcome downtown Texarkana's newest small business, Heat It Up. They make it easy to eat healthy by providing healthy meal preparation. Per their Facebook page, each meal consists of 4oz of protein, 1/4 - 1/2 cup carbs, and 1/2 cup veggies. A few of our board members have gone by to meet the owners, and they are excited to be part of the future of Downtown Texarkana. Let's help them be successful! Go visit them and let your friends know they are here!
Location: 115 Main Street - Texarkana TX (On the west side of the Bi-State Building)
Don't forget that you can make a difference downtown by simply supporting the businesses that make their homes there. It's one of the most impactful things we can do as a community. Do your part!!
Texarkana Texas has released another update on the progress of the Hotel Grim. We are linking to it here.
We've been working behind the scenes to build a new and improved website for Main Street Texarkana, and now it is here. As with any small organization, there are parts of the site that still need some work, but we are hoping our new platform will be more user friendly and easier for us to keep up to date. Click through and let us know what you think! You can find us at www.mainstreettexarkana.org
