The building we see today was built by Mr. Kress, and avid patron of the arts, in the "Art Deco" style with vertical windows, gold lettering and designs of the era. Lead by a team of architects under Edward F. Sibbert, the innovative steel inner skeleton has allowed the building to be among the few still standing today.
